I want Ontario to spend $50,000 - 250,000 to fund a event about An educational and fun environmental initiative in order to fight climate change through conservation and a low carbon economy.

What is your project idea?

here is an idea: This is kind of my idea for some environmental initiative: It's a small one; but I think it would be effective. Planting more dreams. Why not have a day or a week (at least) dedicated to planting a tree? Imagine if this was put into practice and Canadians nationwide. were encouraged to plant at least one tree. I mean: we have Earth Hour. Wouldn't something like this be more effective? What if; as part of the Canadian educational curriculum; kids, starting in grade 1 or 2; were sent out to nature reserves, to plant more trees. Something like this could be incorporated into a horticulture class or botanist class. I think, in order to get people to be more proactive; they have to enjoy what they're doing.

How will this idea provide a solution?

Planting more trees would only benefit our environment; as they help clean the air. Teaching kids and encouraging people to do something like this; doesn't really have a downside to it. Cleaner environment, healthier wildlife, healthier population, happier population, happy population, more productive population.

This is very good idea. Creates a sense of stewardship, awareness of nature and science as well. I wish this was introduced instead of the sex ed program.

In Japan there is a long term process to plant a tree or busy in every possible corner of the urban environment. They also take advantage of the many gases given off by growing trees that augment a person's health. It is called having a tree shower which is really just a walk in the woods to enjoy nature, breathe in the trees pollution free gases and emerge refreshed.

This seems like a low cost initiative and it would help remove CO2 from the atmosphere while greening up the urban environment. I would expect that financial leverage would be possible with city and national governments.
